coexistence

the light can coexist
with the darkness
this is how
sunrise and dusk is born
life can coexist
with death
and that is how
suffering and agony haunts us
only love
can coexist
with love only
and that is why it is
so pure

Loved it! Thank you, Mihai for these beautiful poems.

if you dream with your mind

Mihai Brinas Poetry Collections
Mihai Brinas Poetry Collections - I was moved by the thought-provoking poems of Mihai Brinas. I read and reviewed An Invitation to Poetry. I enjoyed reading Mihai's poems in his Alignment of Thoughts poetry collection as well.
Mihai Brinas writes from his heart and assembles his words in a unique and beautiful fashion. It took me several readings to find meaning in the poems in this collection. However, I discovered the more I read his poems, the more meaningful they became to me. And that is lovely.
I believe there is still a place for poetry in this complicated world. While I am not an avid reader of poetry, I found a pleasant respite in the poems by Mihai Brinas. I am not always certain of the poet's meaning, yet I can enjoy each poem for the meaning it has for me.
Invitation to Poetry collection is brimming with the insightful and heartfelt work of a true poet. I am particularly fond of this poem written by Mihai Brinas
Germination
Germination
in my left hand
a drop of rain has dripped there a crystal flower
has grown
in my right hand
a drop of blood has dropped there a red poppy
has grown
in my sight
a down sneaked
from traveling birds
and in the soul
there has sprouted in me the thought of flight

Alignment of Thoughts by Mihai Brinas (Goodreads Author). Personal experiences and social observations in seventy-four poems.

Jim Bennett
rated it it was amazing  ·
A star count is one person’s opinion. Clearly, I like this work a lot. More on the stars, counting, and my rating challenges later.
For a taste of Brinas’ voice, turn to Discoveries, which begins thus: “teachers transmit their knowledge /in public /to more people at a time /this is how you discover science” and continues to a pleasant surprise ending.

For social commentary and human observation, turn to The Same Road. For a love poem told in a metaphor, turn to The Nest.

For another observation of humans at large, turn to In the Wind, which includes this (in the middle) : “it turns the pages /with its breeze /as if reading /then full of poetry /the wind begins to recite....”

Spoiler alert: this is the entire poem Let Us Be: “let me be a bench in the park /where you can sit /and dream of me /let me be an armchair /to keep you in my arms /let me be myself later /let me hug you /and fulfill your dream”

For a powerful, deceptively simple poem, turn to A Bench. I cannot give you the force of this piece in a short quote. When you have the work in your hand, turn to this page.

For a strange and fascinating work that questions reality, turn to Guardian Angels.

For a personal poem written so simply you cannot believe its power, turn to Separation.

For those of you who like a bit of thought-provocation, turn to Image Cut Out from Another World.

Now for my star count boilerplate. My personal guidelines, when doing any review, are as follows: five stars means, roughly equal to best in genre. Rarely given. Four stars means, extremely good. Three stars means, definitely recommendable. I am a tough reviewer. I try hard to be consistent. Brinas is up against e.e.cummings, Stephen Stephen Crane, and Archibald
MacLeish, where he stands as roughly equal.
 Five stars feels right on.

ROSES FOR THE POET Alignment of Thoughts by Mihai Brinas (Goodreads Author)

RobinLeigh Morgan
Robin Leigh MorganTop Contributor: True Crime Books
I received an electronic copy of this book from the author through a giveaway he recently had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.

This is the second book of poetry I’ve had the privilege of reading by this author. And once again I’ve been taken away by the individual’s mastering of the English language, as it’s not his primary language, Romanian is.

Poetry is definitely not as simple to write as non-fiction or any genre of fiction. One of the main reason is that you don’t have same amount of space to effectively paint the image in a reader’s you’d like to communicate, a space in which what you’ve written needs to be encumbered with any desire emotions you’d like in include.

In reading this collection of poetry, I once again found them to be quite thought-provoking making it difficult to simply and then move on to the next poem, which is why I’m giving this poet, Mihai Brinas, 5 STARS for his endeavor here; along with a bouquet of roses.

Alignment of Thoughts by Mihai Brinas (Goodreads Author)

Another moving collection of poems that are sure to capture your heart. I'm impressed with the flow of the words and the in-depth meanings found within the poems. Poems that can thought to mean different things depending on the mind frame of the reader. It leaves a bit a mystery behind what was going through Brinas' mind.
Mihai Brinas poems are raw and all to devouring of the human soul. I look forward to the hopeful many more work from Brinas.
A few poems I feel head over heels for but none more than the one title Separation.

time in unequal installment payments

when silence abandons it
the pain held in captivity
escapes from confinement
all over the body
it crushes him from inside
just like serrated wheels
and the body becomes drunk
from so much suffering
it is the moment from which
the hours are not equal anymore

the sadness of books

i like
to enter sometimes
the town library
to stroke the books with my look
to touch them with my hand
while walking among the shelves
to feel their smell
and read one book or another
i leave-taking with me
the sadness of so many books left unread

Laura Jay - BookClubReporter

October 5, 2019

These days I find that I am no longer a regular reader of poetry. However, I was moved by the thought-provoking poems of Mihai Brinas. I have read and reviewed An Invitation to Poetry, also written by Brinas. I enjoyed reading the poems in Alignment of Thoughts as well.

Mihai Brinas writes from his heart and assembles his words in a unique and beautiful fashion. It took me several readings to find meaning in the poems in this collection. However, I discovered the more I read his poems, the more meaningful they became to me. And that is lovely. Therefore, I prefer to believe there is still a place for poets in this world.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVOCATIVE POETRY FROM AN INCREDIBLY TALENTED POET!

I am a lover of great poetry, and one of the best books I have read in a long time are those by Rupi Kaur. I feel there has been a bit of a stalemate lately with a distinct lack of poetry being published, so when I was offered a copy of 'Invitation to Poetry' I jumped at the chance. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint! Mihai Brinas is an incredibly talented poet who deserves every success. Given the author is Romanian, with English presumably being his second language, there was no clunky language and the intent of each poem was clear as soon as you started reading. It absolutely shows in his work that he understands English to an exceptional level and never did I feel I was reading words that showed a lack of grasp of the English language. The book consists of 61 short, thought-provoking poems that flow exquistely from one to the next, and the prose of each is simple yet magical. The themes range from love, life and nature, to name but a few.

I didn't know what to expect, but I soon realised that I was going to love this collection. Each of the poems are easy to relate to and each struck a chord with me.

Excerpt of 'With Envy About Flying' -
The birds get high in the sky
where nobody
can see them
how they get drunk
with the perfume of freedom

This was definitely one of my favourite poems from this collection. Heartfelt, beautifully expressive and emotionally involving. This is a simply stunning set of poems, and as the title suggests it explores various different themes rather than adhering to just one.
